The Sharks called up Brad Staubitz from Worcester. He's NOT the first call up I envisioned. Guess he's up for pugilistic reasons?? Cool.
marchment_fan
I am SO getting home on time today! ;-)
one2gamble
THe Sharks are obviously expecting a throw down or this call up makes little sense

Alaskan_Ice
Yep, Just another body to take up 3 fighting majors 'til he's shown the door. Staubs can throw!!! Can we make his nickname BS???

Staubitz vs. May?

Maybe the org just listened to my post and bringing him up for this weekend wink.gif

lmao....

Oh well, anyone know if he will be there tonight or for saturdays game?
ReverseTheCurse2020
Staubitz, Shelley, Clowe, Murray all in the lineup should be more than enough to keep Anaheim honest.
one2gamble
I thought murray was sitting
Alaskan_Ice
Murray is out. Enter Staubitz. Oh and Semenov too. Darnit all.
Sam_Adelphia
So if he's in the lineup, that mean what, Roenick, or Goc or one of the youngsters sits?

One of the Woostah guys at HF said that Staubitz was told that he would play vs. Anaheim.

Sidenote: Staubitz is eligible for recall waivers (Who would take him?) but he only has an NHL cap hit of 475k. They can probably slide him by recall temporarily as an emergency recall with Mitchell, Murray and Plihal temporarily injured. I would not be surprised if Michalek has to sit for a game as well (injured).

Exactly. Who sits?

probably one of Milan (hurt), Plihal (hurt) or Goc (suck/soft), JR(Tired)

Look above. Best guess: Michalek (injured).
Alaskan_Ice
I doubt Michalek sits. Roenick either for that matter. He earned it with his little fit the other night.

I doubt Michalek sits.

Why? Are you sure he is healthy enough. He was pulled at the end of the Jackets game.
Alaskan_Ice
He's had a couple of days off. I believe they are going to want his speed in this game. You know to skate around all the fights!!!
marchment_fan
This has totally made my day! I was having kind of a crappy one with audit, but now....I'm totally looking forward to the game. Still nervous for the boys, but it should be interesting.

Pronger, Perry, Setoguchi, Clowe - get me PIMS!!!!

He's a player I have that is in that game, but he can be fiesty.

Oh...forgot about the other league - Ehrhoff, Boyle and Nabby....uh, yeah....I'll continue to forget about that league. Although I really wouldn't mind seeing Nabby take Giguere out.

I hardly ever have any Sharks on my teams. This is year is kind of weird.

Murray might be out. I haven't heard anything this morning but yesterday he was questionable. If he's out and semen is in, he can push bodies around as well and Luko can be nasty sometimes.
Alaskan_Ice
Good at least Semo will push bodies around. ????

He can be fiesty, but he never gets PIM's . . .
royale
Sweet, so they brought this guy up to goon it up a bit. We are going to need that with Parros and May. They are peeved about going 0-4 and will bring the house.
Sjsharkvet
Being that the Sharks called up a player known more for fighting than skill, and with a perceived "desperate" Duck's team, will the league tell the ref's to step in early for this one to keep it in check, or is that something dependent upon the individual refs officiating the game?

Never in the whole year that he's been in the NHL?

For the record, he's gotten at least one major penalty in four of the last five years, not including this year which is only four games old.

Dork.

Setoguchi ain't never got a major penalty. What are you on crack now? Switched from pole?

Really? 2003-04 with the Saskatoon Blades, 53 penalty minutes. How do you get an odd number of penalty minutes without getting a major penalty?
2005-06, 69 PIM. 2006-07, 55. In 23 games with Worcester last year, he accrued 25 penalty minutes.

In case you have trouble counting, that's at least one major penalty in four of the last five seasons.

Setoguchi has a mean streak a mile wide. Read any scouting report.

Congratulations, you're retarded.

Have fun with those WHL/AHL fantasy leagues. I heard they are a blast, I play the NHL one's myself.
stizzmoney
is there like a petition we can sign to have jp removed from the boards?
Franklin Turtle
Fiddler on the roof, right? Your Channeling Tevye?

Tevye: As Abraham said, "I am a stranger in a strange land...”
Mendel: Moses said that.
Tevye: Ah. Well, as King David said, "I am slow of speech, and slow of tongue."
Mendel: That was also Moses.
Tevye: For a man who was slow of tongue, he talked a lot.

Of course Tevye also said:
"As the good book says, if you spit in the air, it lands in your face."

You're right. I forgot that when the name of the league changes, the player adopts an entirely alternate personality and style of play.

Even so, if he's a little big banged up you don't want a minor injury getting worse.

except it's not all that ironic because he was using it in the "grade school" context, not the english grammar context, so a little spelling typo is hardly cause for a "fail."

Here is a Worcester Sharks game last year which got pretty rough and Devin Setoguchi gets involved and drops the gloves with Mario Scalzo (Setoguchi handles Scalzo too).

It's pretty clear Setoguchi's had a major penalty. He's a fiesty and aggressive player, not an enforcer or the like, but he's has physicality for sure.

Begins about 2:43 in.
